Why is music free to download with an mp3 player?

I dont understand why its free and with a ipod you have to pay for songs? Also can you get all the hit songs as well for free? I dont understand why people are buying ipods and paying to buy music if you can get it free with an mp3, Iam confused. Do you think that free music will continue?

1. hahaha. You are totally lost. Both, MP3 Players and Ipods play MP3 files. You can download ANY mp3 file and play it on your mp3 player or iPod. =] there is no such thing as "Mp3 for MP3 Player" or "MP3 for iPod".
